I got Scammed by Visual Voices International @ Madison Square

My experience with this so called Artist Consultancy was disappointing to say the least, I wanted to share this experience with you.

They contacted me after seeing an article of my work in an art magazine and I fell for them hook line and sinker, there website looks amazing. But unfortunately that was as far as it went.

I paid them money for a package that would support with my practice, to market, promote etc. But instead I got a head ache.

At first I received a flattering email off Olivia asking me to complete a questionnaire which to it’s credit was well thought out.

But after realising that the white sheets started to appear and a ghost fully formed, their communication evaporated. I started to feel something in my bones.

After eight months with my questionnaire complete and a promise to publish my profile on their editorial section in April 2022, June soon came round and NOTHING.

So I asked for my money back and this is what I received from Simon Germans.

(Ms Thomas is my agent who tried contacting Mr Germans but to no avail, I never received an email. And they have both my email addresses on file because two of his colleagues had no problem contacting to get my money).

I am still waiting for my refund!

I did feel very embarrasment and strong sense of shame at the time. It was all a lie I had been working with these people, person who ever they are for over 9 months, sending emails, hopeful, wasting time, confused.

If you have any experience with Visual Voices International please let me know or any other art scam.

My advice would be if these companies do contact you, have a zoom call, meeting in person, check their instagram, artsy, speak to other artists that are using them and their experience.

I hope this has been helpful.

I will post the scam interview next time……………………………………..

  1. Dear Sheree,

Thank you for posting on visual voices. I have just come across your post on this scamming platform and I am in a similar situation. I have also sent an email requesting a refund.
I am so happy that you have shared your experience, protecting others from this scam.
I put my trust in them to share my work, like for most artists, work that is deeply personal to me and is my whole world.

    Best wishes,

    Leili Khabiri

    1. Oh No! I am SO sorry to hear this. I posted this because when I did my research about VVI there was nothing out there to validate who they were but I saw there shiny website and thought they must be reputable but oh no they weren’t. I am so glad you got in touch because I thought I was the only one too! Please feel free to spread my post as far and as wide as possible, or if you know of anyone else please let me know. Perhaps we could start some thing here to stop VISUAL VOICES INTERNATIONAL from scamming other amazing artists.

  2. Yes, I have experienced the same. Visual voices international is CRAP. Katie Brown and Simon Germans are nasty scammers, but they are quite pro in this. Not only a shiny website … they invest quite some time to get your money. I was even having a long phone call with “Katie”, they were responsive in the beginning and very flattering. I was even in touch with another person to overwork the interview.
But then, it started getting weird with Katie answering weeks later only via another email address etc.
Simon did even confirm me they refunded me. I will go to the police. Maybe you have to do as well. Otherwise, they will not stop.

  3. I also have been scammed by them. I did a fair amount of research on them, and they pursued me with phone calls for nearly a year before I agreed…even spoke to an artist who had satisfactory things to say about their services.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Visual Voices International. So disappointing to hear. With enough people like yourself and other artists that have started contacting me with the same experience lets keep spreading the word. The art world is not has big as people think!

  4. I was scammed by them also.
I was ashamed of myself for falling for such a scam. But they have done it professionally to the point it is believable.
I told them I saw your website and said you are a scam and I want my money back. Katey replied and tried to make me feel bad and said I will get the refund to you. Then I got an email from Dominique from accounts to send me a fake receipt from US bank.
I am still looking around to work out who to report them to. Their Instagram has been deleted. I cannot find them. Or maybe they have blocked me? I put in a mention that they are scammers.

    1. Hi Sally, thank you so much for getting in touch, this is so important that we raise awareness about Visual Voices International being scammers. Like you said who do we report them too? In the art world it is so tricky sometimes to share our experiences of these types of scams which is why I choose to share this post. Thanks again for reaching out and I hope my post along with other artists comments have helped you to not feel ashamed any more, take care Sheree

  5. Thank you for this. It has been super painful and difficult dealing with this and Katie and Olivia both have apology emails and avoidance. I feel the same as what I have read here and feeling alone wondering what to do. Thank you for sharing. Did anyone manage to get money back?

  6. I am in the same boat…and in fact my experience was almost identical to yours. Now they have both blocked me. I am going to try to see if my credit card company will issue a refund. I should have known, when apparently they had a potential sale for me, but did not even bother to contact me right away….just stall, and stall again, hoping you will give in.
