Who decides what art work is shown and where? To much decision making is given to institutions often disregarding artists input.
Art is about a two way conversation, why can’t artists decide what they show and where? Why do artists have to write endless proposals, submit there work in a competitive platform.
I live in Swansea where there are a lot of empty shops why can’t these spaces be borrowed, shared for artist to use as studios, group exhibitions, workshop spaces?
I don’t know about you but I’m tired of trying to sell my practice, which festers a competitive platform that is built on dissipating sand.
Let’s start thinking about the artist first rather than the institution first.
