I recently read an article ‘From No Logo to My Logo’ in the Observer newspaper about the book ‘No Logo’ by Naomi Klein, it was published in 1999 and I was 18 years old at the time, I wonder if I had read it then how it would of impacted me growing up.
‘No Logo’ resonates like an urban myth, its impact and dialogue more prominent now than ever before. With movements like Extinction Rebellion which are directed by the community for the community and the world! Wanting people to reconnect to nature rather than the material.
It seems that people want to buy in to a shared experience rather than a brand.
This also ties in well to this painting I recently finished, which reflects upon the seduction of the ‘influencer’. Who’s role suggests an illusion of perfection leaving its ‘followers’ hungry for more, more, more……..
I find Popular Culture fascinating it is like junk food, leaves you instantly satisfied but its embers still burn with a sickly taste.
